PAPAMOA WOMENS FOOTBALL HISTORY

Papamoa Football Club (formally known as Papamoa Sports Soccer Club) was given the opportunity of entering a Women's team into Bay Women's Division for 2008. Papamoa Football Club had their 1st Women's team. Coached by Tom Morrison and assisted by Gary MacLauchlan.

Having a mixed of experienced players and the younger players that have played for the Waikato Bay of Plenty Federation team, it has become evident that these young women have the skills for aiming to enter Nthn League in the not too distant future. This will see them competing against top level teams from Auckland and Hamilton.

Teams have in the past been handicapped by the limited number that continue to play (after leaving school or having children), and the opportunity to have another level of play available will, we hope, lead to an increase in general player numbers within the region, and will also allow our own club to secure/lure other players into our club structure, strengthening both our club and the local league, thus giving them a level of competition to strive for.

Please make some time to come down and support these ladies and treat yourselves to a great level of football. Keep and eye on the draw for the next home game.
